MU Origin is one of the best Asian MMORPG games on mobile today, but if you’re not used to this type of game, then you might struggle with it at first. The game is largely automated and due to the sheer complexity of it, you might like this fact. That being said, this does take something away from the skill-focus and therefore some players will be a little put off.
What is MU Origin?
First of all, it has nothing to do with the Marvel Universe. It’s an Asian MMORPG game where you must complete quests set to you by random quest-givers and you must rank up your skills along the way. Sounds familiar? Well, that’s because it pretty much takes the same blueprint as every MMORPG game.
You choose a character from one of three archetypes, then you go out and kill some monsters, learn some skills, explore some dungeons and gain a lot of skills along the way.
In this sense, the game feels familiar. But in other ways, it’s pretty foreign. The game has a large social element to it, which really makes it feel like a way to catch up with your friends from school or work while completing contests and quests.
You can battle against your friends or go out and explore the realm and complete quests to level up your stats. The thing is, a lot of the game isn’t you playing. Much of it is automated and this does take something away from the sense that you’re actually completing your own destiny.
The game’s interface and array of menus, stats pages and information are pretty overwhelming and this makes it sort of easier to just stick it on auto and let the game do everything for you. Unfortunately, this makes the whole thing feel a little pointless and many players will likely get stuck here.
That being said, the game is a fairly well polished MMORPG where you can fight against real people and your buddies and kill some time on a boring afternoon.
